Employee-generated content (EGC)

Employee-generated content (EGC) refers to learning and knowledge content created by employees in the departments themselves, instead of a central editorial team or external agency producing every training minute.

Why does it work? The knowledge sits in the departments, not in L&D. When experts can pass on their knowledge directly, the most expensive translation loop of training production disappears: the briefing between department and production. L&D shifts from producer to governing layer; quality, governance, and rollout stay central while creation is distributed.

The hurdle used to be production itself: camera, editing, voice-over. AI-based tools remove it. Experts talk to an interview AI or upload slide decks, and the finished training is generated automatically, on brand and SCORM-ready. At DPD, around 240 active authors work this way and produced more than 1,800 videos in two and a half years.
