RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)

RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) is a technique in which a language model receives matching content from a knowledge base before generating its answer. Instead of “guessing” from its training alone, the model answers on the basis of concrete, supplied sources.

The benefit depends entirely on the quality of the knowledge base. A 2024 meta-analysis shows: RAG with validated context reduces hallucinations by 40 to 71%. The reverse also holds: if the knowledge base contains outdated or contradictory documents, RAG returns exactly those errors, just more fluently phrased.

That’s why the stage before RAG decides the outcome: capturing implicit experience, validating it, and attaching an owner, validity date, and origin gives the RAG pipeline a foundation users can trust. Omnora Intelligence Management provides a dedicated RAG API through which chatbots, copilots, and agents access the verified knowledge base.
